Sound is very important and creates vibrations that affect our moods, motivates us and can create either positive or negative changes in individuals and groups. These seeds sounds are known as Mantra (Man is from the root meaning  sound; tra means that which protects or defends).

There are SEED SOUNDS that were known to ancient Indian sages. They understood and used these seed sounds for Positive Development of the society.

Here are some seed sounds which when chanted creates vibrations that enhances the intelligence (AIM), gives good energy (HREEM), wealth and health (SHREEM), spiritual knowledge (SHIVA), happiness (RAAMA), helps to wash away sins, problems and confusion (ANAGHA) and gives the gift of victory (DATTAYA) to the person chanting.

The following mantra was given by His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji for World Peace and Protection. The sounds can be chanted for 5 to 10 minutes to promote peace and protection of the person chanting and for the greater benefit of the world.

SERVICE TO OTHERS

Satyam's childhood and his acts of service to others

When Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji was a boy, he was called Satyam. Satyam stayed with his Aunt Venkamma. She was a widow and lived in a room in the Shiva temple. She did some work in neighbouring houses and did not have much money.

Satyam did not even have books for school. However, his mother Jayalakshmi, had instructed him that he must help at least four poor boys every day. Following his mother’s instructions, Satyam would do some work even at the age of ten years and get books and school fees to help some poor boys.

The postmaster would give pieces of paper to Satyam. He would use the side of the page that was clear to do his school work and would share the paper with other poor boys.

When Satyam was going to the market he would stop by his teacher's home and ask if he needed him to get any vegetables from the market. Satyam did this in appreciation of the good lessons and values his teachers were instilling in him.

Satyam would go to the house of some scholars and listen to discourses on the holy stories. At night he would practice the spiritual disciplines taught by his mother Jayalakshmi.

Satyam was always engaged in some good actions like practicing yoga, studying holy stories with the pundits or scholars and doing his school work.

Even as Dattatreya learnt that he must always do good to others, Jayalakshmi Mata taught this lesson to Satyam. Satyam listened to his Mother and followed her instructions.

Satyam did not think “I am a poor boy so how can I help anyone?” Instead he thought, “I must obey my Mother’s instructions and work and help others.”

LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE STORY

1. Satyam obeyed the instructions of his mother and his aunt. I must listen and obey the instructions given by my elders.

2. It does not matter if I am rich or poor, I can still be helpful.

3. Good deeds should be done secretly and not for praise.

4. It is best to always perform good action like reading good books, listening to the stories of God, helping others, doing yoga or prayers.
